June 17, 2013: CT & W MA SIOR has an Active Spring

The Connecticut and Western Massachusetts Chapter of SIOR recently participated in a Habitat For Humanity build project in Bridgeport.  The Chapter also held a benefit concert for Habitat featuring the blues band - Roomful of Blues and raised almost $17,000 from ticket sales and generous contributions.  Finally, the Chapter held a golf tournament and its summer meeting at Tashua Knolls Golf Course in Trumbull.

January 28, 2013: SIORs at Matthews Commercial and CBRE announce 120,500 sf lease

Ed Godin, SIOR from Mathews Commercial Properties and and Bill Bronson, SIOR and Chris Metcalfe from CB Richard Ellis recently announced the lease of 120,500 sf warehouse and office space in the Newington Business Park  to The Davidson Co., New England's largest specialty foods distributor.  Godin represented the tenant and Bronson/Metcalfe represented the Landlord. 



January 28, 2013: Two SIORs from Vidal-Wettenstein close $18MM deal


Bruce Wettenstein, SIOR and David Fugitt, SIOR of Vidal-Wettenstein announce the sale of 1365-1391 Post Road East, Westport.  The property - 3.47 acres improved with 2 buildings totalling 50,000 sf was recently sold to an investment consortium for $18,250,000.  lick on the following link for the full press release: 1365-1391 Post Rd Press Release



January 14, 2013: SIOR CT W-MA Chapter Awards University of Connecticut Scholarships

Storrs, CT: The Connecticut/Western Massachusetts Chapter of the Society of Industrial and
Office Realtors (SIOR) is pleased to announce recent University of Connecticut Scholarship
recipients for the 2012/2013 academic year.

A total of $18,000 was awarded to three deserving students from UCONN’s School of Business. The scholarships are funded from the Chapter sponsored Samuel F. Pierson and Carl F. Traub scholarships, with matching funds provided by The SIOR Foundation.

The Connecticut/Western Massachusetts SIOR Chapter is delighted to acknowledge the scholarship
recipients: Brittani Clayton, Michael Hovey, and Frances (Frankie) Gibbons. All the recipients are
Deans List students.

The Connecticut/Western Massachusetts SIOR Chapter has two scholarship funds: The first is in honor of Samuel F. Pierson, a long-time member and past national president of the society, and the other in memory of Carl F. Traub, another long-time chapter member who had a significant positive impact on the commercial real estate industry. The Chapter’s scholarships are supported with matching funds from the SIOR Foundation (SIORF). The Chapter has awarded over $300,000 to deserving students at the University of Connecticut’s School of Business concentrating in Real Estate.
